DESCRIPTION

Ten vintage Holmegaard smoke gray, hand blown, cylinder vases designed by Per Lütken.

Per Lütken (1916–1998) was a Danish glassware designer who studied painting and technical drawing at the School Of Arts And Crafts in Copenhagen. In 1946 Lütken succeeded Jacob Bang as art director and chief designer at the Holmegaard and Kastrup glassworks. Initially Lütken perpetuated the classical modern asthetic of his predecessor. In the 1954 Lütken attended the (X) Milan Triennale exhibition during a study tour of Italy. The exhibition provided great inspiration, he pioneered a new aesthetic direction for both companies by introducing soft colors and free flowing forms in his work. The resulting designs epitomized the fluid and gentle organic forms that soon dominated Scandinavian Modern during the post WWII years.

Production dates range from 1959 to 1962.

CONDITION

All the vases are in good vintage condition. No cracks, breaks or discolorations, some light scratching throughout from normal usage through the years. Heavy scratching on some of the bottoms, but cannot be seen in upright position.

SHIPPING

The cylinder vases will be carefully packed using bubble wrap and a rigid cardboard box. The carrier will be Federal Express Ground for businesses or Federal Express Home Delivery, the pieces will be insured for the sold price, a Federal Express tracking number will be emailed to the buyer on the day of shipment, which is usually within two business days after purchase, and the package will have to be signed for.
