DESCRIPTION

A set of eight vintage coasters, the design is called DINNER AT EIGHT. The coasters were designed by Piero Fornasetti in the 1950’s-1960’s. Made in Milano, Italy of porcelain, each coaster is transfer printed and gold leafed, Each coaster features a french food: Truite a la Genevoise, Charlotte a la Russe,   Couronne de Riz Creole, Terrine de Volaille, Bombe a la Groseille, Corbeille de Fruits, Biscuits a la Vénitienne and Mousse de Jambon Truffée.

Each coaster is signed: DINNER AT EIGHT / Fornasetti / Milano / Made in Italy. The coasters have a small gold initial(s). The coasters are being sold In their original box, the bottom of the box has a stamped imprint: Fornasetti Milano. The coasters are 4 ¼ inches in diameter and 3/8 inches tall.

BIOGRAPHY OF DESIGNER

Piero Fornasetti (1913-1988) was an Italian artist and designer known for his prolific and eclectic body of work, spanning painting, sculpture, interior decoration, and printing. He is celebrated for his unique blend of classicism, surrealism, and metaphysical art, often infused with playful and humorous elements.

CONDITION

The coasters are in very good vintage condition, there is very little scratching or gold leaf loss. Three of the coasters have chip like factory flaws on the edges, no cracks and no discolorations, but there are stray paint / gold leaf marks on the back of one coaster and some slight marks on the others. The box is in very good condition, with some discolorations and slight flaws on the bottom.

SHIPPING

The coasters will be carefully packed using bubble wrap, styrofoam peanuts and a rigid cardboard box. The carrier will be Federal Express Ground for businesses or Federal Express Home Delivery, the piece will be insured for the sales price, a Federal Express tracking number will be emailed to the buyer on the day of shipment, which is usually within two business days after purchase, and the package will have to be signed for upon arrival.
