DESCRIPTION
An electric clock with an enamel on copper face and a walnut body. The clock was produced by Robert F. Wuersch’s company, Wuersch Clocks Manufacturing Company in Fall River, Massachusetts. The clock is from the 1957 to !970 time period. The clock is very well made and quite whimsical with its vegetable and fruit numberals. The clock measures approximately 8 7/8 inches in diameter and is 2 inches deep, the cord is approximately 10 feet long.
BIOGRAPHY
Robert F. Wuersch was born in Emmetten, Switzerland. In Switzerland he was associated with an aircraft manufacturer, a paper factory and worked with cheese exporters in the late 1930's. Wuersch was fluent in French, Spanish, Italian, German and English. He immigrated to the United States in 1948. Initially living in New York City, he founded an importing business in 1951. He married in 1956. He and his wife founded Wuersch Associates, producing art enamels on pure copper and fine wood from 1957 until the 1970's. Wuersch and his wife moved to Fall River, Massachusetts in 1961. In Fall River he founded Wuersch Clocks Manufacturing Company in the former Kerr Mill. Wuersch Associates closed in 1986, the mill was destroyed by a terrible fire in 1988, he died in 1995.
CONDITION
The clock is in good vintage condition, the hands have been repainted, the walnut base oiled and it has a new twisted nylon cord with a vintage inspired socket. There is a blemish on the face on the top right quarter. clock keeps good time, it does make a noise when running, but really isn’t that noticable.
SHIPPING
The clock will be carefully packed using bubble wrap and a rigid cardboard box. The carrier will be Federal Express Ground for businesses or Federal Express Home Delivery, the pieces will be insured for the sold price, a Federal Express tracking number will be emailed to the buyer on the day of shipment, which is usually within two business days after purchase, and the package will have to be signed for.
