Venini Bottle

$2,700.00

DESCRIPTION

A beautiful bottle with stopper by Paolo Venini for Venini from the 1950's. The bottle is "sommerso" which in English literally means "submerged". This technique is used to create several layers of glass (usually with different contrasting colors) inside a single object. This bottle appears to be clear glass incased in green glass. The stopper is layered with clear, rose and green glass. The surface of the bottle and stopper is "inciso" which in English means engraved or incised, this process is done by hand on a grinding wheel. The bottle is listed in the book Venini: Catalogue Raisonné 1921 - 1986, Diaz de Santillana, ppg. 100, 204 and 282. Page 282 has archival pages from the Venini catalog, on page 131 of the catalog the stoppered bottle can be seen as drawing number 4587, the height listed is 29 cm or a little over 11 3/8 inches. This bottle and stopper is approximately 11 1/8 inches tall, 5 inches at its widest and 4 1/4 inches in depth. The bottom of the bottle is acid etched: Venini / Murano / Italia.

CONDITION

The bottle and stopper are in very good vintage condition, there a few very small abrasions, I counted five. There appears to be some small bubbles inside the glass, as well as some whitish particles in the glass, the stopper has a large bubble in the glass. The bottom has a few flea bite chips around the edge and some scratching. Given the bottle and stoppers age, it's in great condtion and very beautiful.
